Get More Kicks On Route 66

The Road Crew gears up for another Route 66 adventure

This past weekend my wife, Lori and I added a day to a business trip to Chicago so we could drive to Joliet on 66. Lori has done parts of 66 with me but not this stretch. After brunch at Lou Mitchell's, we headed out for Joliet. Lot's of interesting sights along the way, but I think the big thrill for me was to see my band's CD on sale at the Joliet gift shop. Elaine greeted us and spoke of the sights to see nearby. There was another couple visiting the gift shop, Paul and Sandy from Mt. Pleasant, IL. I convinced them to buy one of our CDs and signed it for them. It wasn't so much for the couple as it was to support the shop. We managed to support the shop a little more ourselves and then headed off to see the local Joliet Prison. All in all, it was a great day and I got to enjoy it with my wife!

The Road Crew is playing the Classic Car Festival in Litchfield, IL. Come see us on June 25th (Friday) at approximately 7:30pm in the downtown area. We would love to see you!

Terry, Although I have a 55 Chevy pickup, I take the family car or a rental for these trips. Not sure where I could get the 55 services if the need came up. Not so much into what I drive as to what I'll see. Best wishes. Hope to see you out there sometime.

Joe - Do you drive anything special on these trips? My wife and I just returned from New Mexico. Drove our family car on this trip because of luggage, etc. Spent considerable time along Rt. 66.
