Celebrate Route 66 each and every Summer

The National Route 66 Festival is an annual event celebrating the historic road that runs from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. The National Festival is held in a different location along Route 66 each year. During the Festival you will find a true piece of small town Americana, steeped in the golden age of Route 66. A variety of events are scheduled to ensure something for everyone. Visitors will be able to talk with famous Route 66 authors and artists who strive to preserve the Road through their work. At the Car and Motorcycle Show, owners will showcase their well preserved and restored vehicles from the past 100 years. Don't miss The Will Rogers Awards Banquet usually on the last Saturday night before ending the celebration on Sunday.

"Ken and his Red Indian" by Rodger L. Fox in loving memory of Ken Vetrovec

"Ken and his Red Indian"

On your Red Indian you found the End of the Trail
you met with the challenge of Old Route 66
and conquered the road all the way to Santa Monica Pier

knowing now the mystery of Old Route 66
headed home to share your tails from the trip
not knowing around the corner you were going to make one little slip

The trip ended for you in the twinkle of an eye
but you had had your fix, you conquere… Continue

Thanks go to Lou Vargo and Larry Scinto who logged many hours traveling, visiting and phoning the motel. Many thanks also go out to a… Continue

Route 66 - You Just Have To Love It

I love The Mother Road! My family traveled Route 66 in 1955 when we drove from our home in St. Louis to attened the grand opening of Disneyland in California. I explored the Buffalo Ranch in Oklahoma, sat on a spring loaded rabbit in Arizona and ate in roadside parks with my family. As I grow older, these memories become more important to me and even more clear. Oh, to relive the the glory days of Route 66! Over the past couple of years I did just that with my best friend (since vietnam) Woody B… Continue

Hello Joe Loesch: I'm actually an old member who forgot his password, so thanks again for the welcome. How do I merge the two accounts into one. I've been accused to having a split personality, but one account with the group would be sufficient. Thanks, Joe Wojtonik
