Celebrate Route 66 each and every Summer

The National Route 66 Festival is an annual event celebrating the historic road that runs from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. The National Festival is held in a different location along Route 66 each year. During the Festival you will find a true piece of small town Americana, steeped in the golden age of Route 66. A variety of events are scheduled to ensure something for everyone. Visitors will be able to talk with famous Route 66 authors and artists who strive to preserve the Road through their work. At the Car and Motorcycle Show, owners will showcase their well preserved and restored vehicles from the past 100 years. Don't miss The Will Rogers Awards Banquet usually on the last Saturday night before ending the celebration on Sunday.

The Road Crew gears up for another Route 66 adventure

This past weekend my wife, Lori and I added a day to a business trip to Chicago so we could drive to Joliet on 66. Lori has done parts of 66 with me but not this stretch. After brunch at Lou Mitchell's, we headed out for Joliet. Lot's of interesting sights along the way, but I think the big thrill for me was to see my band's CD on sale at the Joliet gift shop. Elaine greeted us and spoke of the sights to see nearby. There was another couple visiting the gift shop, Paul and Sandy from Mt. Pleasan… Continue

Art's Motel Restored!

Art's Motel in Farmersville, Illinois experienced a bit of a renaissance as Route 66 Association of Illinois preservation volunteers brought back to life the Art's Motel advertising sign. Several volunteers found themselves gathering to complete a great project in the works for sometime. With the on site leadership of Dr. Joe Coscino, the project really blossomed. Thanks go to Lou Vargo and Larry Scinto who logged many hours traveling, visiting and phoning the motel. Many thanks also go out to a… Continue

Route 66 - You Just Have To Love It

I love The Mother Road! My family traveled Route 66 in 1955 when we drove from our home in St. Louis to attened the grand opening of Disneyland in California. I explored the Buffalo Ranch in Oklahoma, sat on a spring loaded rabbit in Arizona and ate in roadside parks with my family. As I grow older, these memories become more important to me and even more clear. Oh, to relive the the glory days of Route 66! Over the past couple of years I did just that with my best friend (since vietnam) Woody B… Continue

Hey Joe, Thanks for having me...
I actually was there. I was standing off to your right of the stage throughout the evening show. Nice to see the cars, and meet many folks there.
It was good to see Mr. Henry even though he bailed early all the while you guys were looking for him to come on stage!!

Thanks again!

Yes we made it to the Litchfield Festival around 1:50, just minutes to spare to acquire the Sky View postmark. I did a photo bulk file upload from our trip to the Tri State Festival in OK/KS/MO and will be going back thru them to remove the dupes, fuzzy, blurry, and non-worthy photos. Plus I'll be adding descriptions and tags for viewership ease.
