I have yet to travel the full length of 66. In 1994, we traveled 66 from Los Angeles to Amarillo. Now that the kids have grown up, my wife & I say we'll do the route each summer. Almost did the route this year but had some surgeries that I had been postponing. Maybe next year?
I work in Burbank, Ca at a media studio, enjoy marveling at classic cars & wanting one. But, our motorhome seems to keep me busy with little fixits & upgrades. We have made the trek to Reno, Nv the last 4 years for Hot August Nights. A lot of classic cars & 60s rock n roll. And, make new friends there each year.
Actually, we have been 'doing the route' the last 4 years. We take our motorhome to Big Bear Lake, Ca for most of the summer. We travel 66 in Victorville most weekends, although, only for a mile.
We have been known to just hope in the car & drive 66 to Kingman & back in one day. I always enjoy looking at the Whiting Bros gas station ruins & the buttes of Arizona
Favorite Music:
Bachman Turner Overdrive, Santana, Wall of Voodoo, Shania Twain, Ted Hugent, Lennie Kravitz, Republica, Frank Zappa, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, Dave Dudley & the soundtrack from Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Why are you here
The glimpses of 66 in Forrest Gump & in the Postman.
List Of My Favorite Route 66 Places
Roy's in Amboy, Kline's Corners, the Arroyo Seco Bridge, Power House in Kingman. The Twin Arrows in Az (really disappointed it has been vandalized)
Frankly, I think Santa Rosa, NM is cool. It seemed like most everyone had left town & the town waits to be populated again.
That's fantastic to hear about another person who has been to 'Cuse! You were lucky enough to be there for some exciting times. I assume you were there after the Nats were playing, but I bet you got to see some great Orangemen football and hoops! I would love to have had that experience. SU sports (at least football) is going down the tube quick.
Where did you go to high school? My mother was born 10/31/52 and went to Corcoran. Her maiden name was Kathy Polge. Probably no chance of you knowing her because it's a big city, but who knows.
Looking forward to starting a dialogue on Cuse and R66...
The '56 Chevy is a classic, Nomad or Bel Air, no matter how one looks at it. That and the '57 - gorgeous!
Corvettes are my fave, but for my 'everyday driver' I'd probably get a Hornet or maybe a gigantic Buick convertible of some sort...maybe a '47 Buick. And of course a '69 Camaro SS for kicks and giggles.
Or I'll just take over Jay Leno's collection. Yes...that should work. ;)
Hello Kevin, thanks for the invite! :) I'm a classic car nut, too - insanely so. Feel free to drool & dream if you want over my collection of classic car pics. What's your favourite(s)?
Unfortunately, because the window sticker material can only be used with an ink jet printer, they can only be used on inside windows. If they get wet the ink runs. I've tried to find a different material that will work with a laser printer but so far I haven't been able to find anything that will work properly.
