I just recently discovered the treasures on Route 66. As a student, I don't have much downtime during the school year. But this summer, I have taken numerous trips around the state to explore all there is on the Mother Road. I find it to be a way to connect to the past and take a break from the busy pace of life in today's world.
Why are you here
To meet others who have a passion for all things of historic Route 66.
List Of My Favorite Route 66 Places
Streetcar Diner in Gardner, IL
Pontiac's Hall of Fame and Museum
Odell's Standard Oil Station
Funks Grove
Yeah the waitress showed us all around the place the toilets were quite funny too.Hope she's got another job real nice person.I'm sure someone will reopen it when the economy picks up.I also do a lot of next time i'm passing then find it's too late! Best wishes Mark.
I've been as for North as Pontiac on 66 and all the way to Cuba, MO the other ways South and West. I am hoping to attend the Mother Road Festival on that Sunday, because we will be returning from Florida that week. Be sure to check out my pictures if you haven't already. A few must stops are the whole town of Atlanta, a vist with Ernie Edwards in Broadwell at the site of The Pig Hip, the alignment/spur in Williamsville, the unmarked alignments in Sherman, Shea's & Cozy Dog in Springfield- the list goes on.
Great photos. The Riviera was our main highlight of 66 last year. We had a meal there with friends from Monee Ilinois.Gardner was as far as we got from Barstow California. They headed back east and we went north to St Paul.
Glad you found The Road. Let me know if you have any questions. I am familiar with a lot of the Route in Illinois. Enjoy your summer. Thanks for the friend add.
