"Great news Joe, and it'll be good to see you...if you can manage to come out later, that'll work great...I'm actually not on the pier this morning, although Jessica is there. I'll be down later this evening around 7...office work…"
After 50 years missing, the infamous "End of the Trail" sign will be returned to Santa Monica and unveiled at the Santa Monica Pier at 9:30am on Route 66's 83rd Birthday, Nov.11. A 66 car caravan will proceed to the pier at 9am that morning in advance of the rededication. Live music, light refreshments, and a gathering of civic leaders will all be present to mark the special occasion.
"Thanks Joe...if you don't mind, what is your direct email?...I have something happening at the end of the road on the 83rd birthday (Nov.11) that I think you'd be interested in. I can forward you the email I sent to my partners on Route…"
I'm Dan Rice, the owner of "66-to-Cali" ( http://www.route-66-to-california.com/ )on the Santa Monica Pier. We began as a manufacturer of Made-in-the-USA t-shirts that is devoted exclusively to Route 66. Our goal was to make the highest quality t-shirt to be found anywhere on the Mother Road, and by the responses we've gotten...it worked. Now we spend our days talking to people from around the world from our little shop on the Santa Monica Pier.

The Road Crew - America's Route 66 Band was the opening act for the International Route 66 Festival, August 2-3. Performed on Main Street in Galena, Friday and on Main Street in Joplin Saturday night. Performed for over 15,000 people in Joplin! Their mini-concert at Afton Station that Sunday afternoon was a big hit with visitors. We had a great time on Route 66! Hoping to see everyone in Kingman next year!
