Get More Kicks On Route 66

Ralph and Red

Spent the weekend on Route 66 in Williams, AZ

We went up to Williams from Tucson to get some mountain air - and boy did we get it. Both of us forgot to pack jeans and it got colder than #%^Y&^ Saturday night, not to mention windy with a bit of rain. We were about 4 shoes full of stupid, that's for sure. We did get a round of golf in at Elephant Rocks G.C. (shot 92) about 2 miles from downtown. It was a great course, in great shape, with spectacular views. Play it if you're a hacker and you're in town.

I also finally got the 'this car has traveled all of Route 66' plate. Now I gotta hope the car doesn't shoot craps on me. The ol' Marquis just turned 138,000 miles.

Have fun and enjoy the road.

One of our favorite ways to unwind is to drive east on Route 66 to Seligman, I40 to Williams, have a nice dinner at the Pine Country restaurant, and then drive south on Fourth Street where we take the road to Dog Town and White Horse Lake (about five miles). This is a great area for long, quiet walks in the forest.

Pine Country is a great place! We enjoy heading up there. We'll have to check out your Dog town. Sounds cool.

Sounds like a great weekend, Ralph and Red! One of these weekends, I need to do some exploring of Route 66 here in the northern part of IL. Just too busy these days.....

I look forward to eating at the Pine Country Restaurant. I've been in touch with them and we'll be eating breakfast there, Monday, September 14.

I am planning a Mustang rally from Barstow to Williams next Memorial Day. We did a spur of the moment trip last year with only 3 cars. This year we are planning it advance and hope to have a larger turnout. I am the california state director of the Black Mustang Club. The Silver Mustang registery has been invited as well. All Mustangs are welcome !! I will probably be driving my rare Shelby GT-C
