Get More Kicks On Route 66

Digital Historic Illinois State Highway Maps

Hello!

My name is Tom Huber and I'm a map librarian at the Illinois State Library in Springfield, Illinois. I'm writing to let you know about our new on-line collection of Illinois highway maps produced by the Secretary of State's office. The Illinois State Library is a division of the Secretary of State's office, which is why road maps produced exclusively by the Illinois Department of Transportation and it's predecessors are not included. The maps were all scanned at 400 dpi (including verso) and the files are in JPEG2000 format. The maps cover the entire lifespan of Route 66 in Illinois. Please contact me if you are interested in full resolution copies of these files, either the JPEGs or the raw TIFs, or if you have any other questions.

If someone was interested in acquiring these maps would there be a cost? I also reside in Springfield and enjoy finding the lost and forgotten sections of Illinois' route 66. That is great that these are now available to the online community.
Yes. The raw TIF files run $5 per image. If multiple images are requested, cost will be $5 per up through the fifth image; afterward cost will be $2 per image. I can also make you paper copies. They run around $4-6 per map.
