The National Route 66 Festival is an annual event celebrating the historic road that runs from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. The National Festival is held in a different location on Route 66 each year. Visitors can talk with famous Route 66 authors and artists who are dedicated to preserving the Road through their work. A Car Show, showcases well preserved and restored vehicles from the past 100 years. This years National Route 66 Festival is scheduled for Amarillo, TX June 19-21. A must do for the summer of 2011.

The Road Crew gears up for another Route 66 adventure

This past weekend my wife, Lori and I added a day to a business trip to Chicago so we could drive to Joliet on 66. Lori has done parts of 66 with me but not this stretch. After brunch at Lou Mitchell's, we headed out for Joliet. Lot's of interesting sights along the way, but I think the big thrill for me was to see my band's CD on sale at the Joliet gift shop. Today, I ventured to Rochester IL and the Waldmire's Cardinal Hill Candles & Crafts shop. This was my first visit there and I enjoyed its rustic charm.
